Sitemap is an example of Maps of any country, area or our street view. Sitemap is a XML file which contains information about the blog/website like when it is updated, how frequently is changes or updated new content. Sitemap helps webmaster like us to tell the search engines that we are on the web and this is our address just like informing personal data base of local area.

As when we start a new blog/website than no body and no search engine comes to know about our blog/website address unless we deliver information to people and search engines. All search engines crawler to sites through links within sites or back links from outer sites.

If we have a poor index problem and very few of internal and external links than submitting a sitemap is a good idea for us.
